The Exercise 6.3.2(b) proves in details that $\Gal(\Q(i,\sqrt[4]{2})/\Q) = \langle \sigma, 	auangle \simeq D_8$, where $\sigma(i) = i, \sigma(\sqrt[4]{2}) = i \sqrt[4]{2}$ and $	au(i) = -i, 	au(\sqrt[4]{2}) = \sqrt[4]{2}$ ($	au$ is the complex conjugation restricted to $\Q(i,\sqrt[4]{2})$).
