Consider the same problem as in Example 5.1, for which we al ready have an optimal basis. Let us introduce the additional constraint Xl + X2 = 3. Form the auxiliary problem described in the text, and solve it using the pri mal simplex method. Whenever the "large" constant M is compared to another number, M should be treated as being the larger one.
