Mark the point $-v+2 w$ and any other combination $c v+d w$ with $c+d=1$. Draw the line of all combinations that have $c+d=1$.

All combinations with $c+d=1$ are on the line that passes through $\boldsymbol{v}$ and $\boldsymbol{w}$. The point $\boldsymbol{V}=-\boldsymbol{v}+2 \boldsymbol{w}$ is on that line but it is beyond $\boldsymbol{w}$.
