If $z = 2$ then $x + y = 0$ and $x - y = 2$ give the point $(x, y, z) = (1, - 1, 2)$ . If $z = 0$ then $x + y = 6$ and $x - y = 4$ produce $(5, 1, 0)$ . Halfway between those is $(3, 0, 1)$ .
