Exercise 1.1.24
Three runners compete in a 100-meter race. The graph depicts the distance run as a function of time for each runner. Describe in words what the graph tells you about this race. Who won the race? Did each runner finish the race?
Answers
Runner A emerged as the victor of the race, crossing the 100-meter finish line in approximately 15 seconds. Following closely behind was runner B, who completed the race in roughly 19 seconds, and runner C, who finished in approximately 25 seconds. Initially, B took the lead, with C trailing behind, and A following suit. However, C managed to overtake B and held the lead temporarily. Subsequently, A surpassed both B and C, securing the top position and ultimately finishing first. Finally, B surpassed C and secured the second-place position. All three runners successfully completed the race.
