Exercise 9.26

Combine the previous two exercises to conclude that χ π ( 1 ω ) = ω 2 m .

Answers

Proof. Since π and a + b are primary elements of D , by Exercise 9.20,

χ π ( a + b ) = χ a + b ( π ) .

By Exercises 9.24 and 9.25,

χ π ( a + b ) = ω 2 n χ π ( 1 ω ) χ a + b ( π ) = ω 2 ( m + n )

Thus ω 2 n χ π ( 1 ω ) = ω 2 ( m + n ) . Consequently

χ π ( 1 ω ) = ω 2 m .
