Sergei Treil

Sergei Treil, (Сергей Раймондович Треиль) is a Russian mathematician who studies analysis. Treil studied at the Leningrad State University with a diploma in 1982 and a doctorate in 1985 with Nikolai Nikolski (Geometric Aspects of the Theory of Hankel and Toeplitz Operators). As a post-doctoral student, he worked at the branch of the Moscow Aviation Institute in Baikonur from 1986 to 1989 and then at the laboratory for theoretical cybernetics in Leningrad. In 1991 he was first visiting professor, from 1992 assistant professor, from 1994 associate professor and from 1998 professor at Michigan State University (as a colleague of Fedor Nazarov, who also won the Salem Prize). In 2000 he became a professor at Brown University.
