Proof. Suppose V is finite-dimensional vector space. Let v1,,vn be a basis of V . Define T L(V ) by

Tvj = vj+1, for j = 1,,n 1 Tvn = v1

T is clearly invertible, but M(T) with respect to same basis only has zeros in the diagonal. □
