It’s a linear transformation. And $N (T) = {0}$ with basis $\emptyset$ ; $R (T) = {a x^{3} + b (x^{2} + 1) + cx}$ with basis ${x^{3}, x^{2} + 1, x}$ . Hence $T$ is one-to-one but not onto.
