Let $A$ be an unitary and upper triangular matrix. For arbitrary indices $i$ and $j$ such that $i > j$ . We have $A_{ij} = 0$ since $A$ is upper triangular. But we also have that $A_{ji} = \bar{A_{ij}} = 0$ . So $A$ is a diagonal matrix.
