Use the notation in Theorem 6.26. By the definition of $T^{†}$ , we have

T T^{†} (x) = L L^{- 1} (x) = x .

Also, if $x \in R {(T)}^{†}$ , again by the definition of $T^{†}$ , we have $T T^{†} (x) = 0$ . Hence it’s the orthogonal projection of $V$ on $R (T)$ .
